Millennial Love!

Personal Stories
April 22, 2017 / By / Post a Comment

Recently, I have been hearing and reading about millennials and their perceived inability to have work ethic, stick with projects and being coined as “lazy.” Perhaps another view should be more widely discussed and circulated… Maybe we are meant to learn from them!

It seems these negative generalizations swirling about are far more harsh than necessary. My experience and observation is that often when we (as people) do not understand we turn it into something that is bad or less than. Perhaps the lack of understanding is the place we should begin.

My personal reflection and intuition has also lead me to believe this is exactly what has happened within our divided nation currently. We do not get it, so it must be bad. We do not see it the same way, so it is something that is harmful. Clearly, there is far more to do with this than the simplicity I just wrote, however I believe life is far more simple and we like to make it unnecessarily complicated.

Back to millennials: They rock! They have the ability to see what is important, what feels in alignment with where the world is going. These beings are here to shake some shit up! They are here to push us to see the importance of “life” that we have so far removed our humanity from as well as disconnected.

Of course some might argue they are in their own world or perhaps disconnected from reality. This could not be more true; however they are in a reality they enjoy, feel compelled to learn more about and find happiness wherever they go. The disconnection is from the social constraints and expectations we have long-held onto as if they were the purpose of being alive, yet they continue to hold us back from living a fulfilling and peaceful life.

Take a moment and simply think about what exactly it is that makes it so hard to understand these individuals. Is it the fact they are following their dreams with reckless abandon? Or perhaps doing this way out of the norm; like not caring about the material possessions or wanting to live in a more simplistic way? Possibly the idea they depend on a community to gain basic needs while they are becoming the solid individual they strive to become with a heart that leads their life rather than a mind that controls it?

I say let all of us hug a millennial today and appreciate the beauty, strength and free-spirited nature they have arrived here with. XOXO
