A Special Delivery
You know that feeling when a package has just been delivered to your doorstep? The one where, for only a moment, you wonder who sent you something and what it could be. Then you recall placing an order. Uncertain this is the item you have been waiting for, you reach down with curiosity and slowly exam the address.

That box hides whatever is inside until the tape has been broken free. A bonded strip, temporarily adhering the cardboard walls. Perhaps another layer of packaging is beyond the tape, for added protection. Nevertheless, the eagerness of discovering what remains inside, calls to action all necessary procedures in opening the mystery item.

We are kind of like these delivered packages. Sometimes we sit out in the wet, cold rain for far too long before someone sees us. Sometimes we arrive with multiple layers of tape and protections. All of those protections were carefully placed, based on previous experiences of the box falling apart or otherwise failing to protect the contents inside.

Take a moment and think of what kind of package you would be. How would you arrive on a doorstep? If we fail to see ourselves, a beautiful gift is wasted. If we acknowledge ourselves, yet never open up, how can we begin to appreciate all that gift has to offer?

Do not get stuck on the packaging, rather the journey of finding the package, opening to see the contents inside and appreciating all aspects discovered. The layers of protection the package arrives with is only temporary and meant to be removed, similar to our limitations. We must first acknowledge, begin to open, eventually revealing the beauty inside. This process meant to be done with love, curiosity, and compassion.
