On this quest to understand the indigenous traditions around the world, I have begun to realize a few things. We overthink a lot. We do not know how to give thanks for all we are given. And most importantly, we have forgotten our purpose as a collective, to be in harmony with one another and the earth we live upon.
A search for spiritual awakening or enlightenment appears to go hand in hand with the ways of our ancestors, yet we believe somehow we are creating new things and need to teach of “our” ways. While my heart understands this path and can certainly see desire to help as healers, I am beginning to understand on a deep level the importance of education around our ancestral traditions and ways of living.
We have a responsibility to uncover, unearth and unravel the false truths, and limitations we have built over these ways. We then must step more fully into a space of commitment in returning to a gift economy. Recognizing the earth provides us daily gifts, which allow us to stay alive, yet we take these things for granted. This goes far beyond climate change or pollution.
We must recognize our trespassing, disrespectful treatment and absolute disregard for the very thing that offers us life. In this reflection we can then begin to heal, mend and offer gifts in return. May today bring a deep clarity to every person who reads this, in knowing what it is they are called to do in the way of reconciling with our sweet Mother Earth. Thank you for answering the call to action. XO
